Black History Month: Celebrating Black women in STEM
Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science!
The United Nations have proclaimed February, 11 the International Day of Women and Girls in Science aiming to ensure full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls.
As it is Black History Month, we wanted to share this great list of Children's books with black women in STEM, as recommended by Children's Librarians at Tacoma Public Library: Reading List Here
We will be sharing reading and movie suggestions for older students for Black History Month next week on the blog.
In addition, we thought we would share this list of Black Women Pioneers in STEM. You can read it here.
With our STEM Fair coming up on March 16th, it seems like a good time to share some excellent role models for students interested in science, technology, engineering, and math. Here are 5 TED-Ed Lessons/Videos written by women in science: Ted Ed Science Videos. Click through to learn about icebergs, whales, the death of our universe(!) and more.
Next week we will share more reading suggestions for Black History Month.
