New LGBTQ webpage and Pride resources
Happy Pride Month Everyone!
This week on the YWA Blog we are sharing some great resources from ADL.org and the National Women’s History Museum. We are also unveiling our new LGBTQ+ webpage on the YWA website. On our new webpage you will find some YWA resources as well as links to external resources. You can find our new webpage right HERE and read on for some excellent information.
“LGBTQIA+ Pride Month is celebrated each June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots and to recognize the immense impact that LGBTQIA+ communities have had on history. The National Women’s History Museum is especially dedicated to highlighting the women and nonbinary individuals who have played integral but often overlooked roles in civil rights movements and the struggles to achieve equity and justice for all.”
We are sharing a great resource with daily activities for the month of June from the National Women’s History Museum right HERE
Pride Month is the perfect time to talk with students and people of all ages about LGBTQ people and their struggles to achieve equity and justice in all aspects of their lives. Let’s all take this opportunity to learn about important LGBTQ people in history and read literature that features LGBTQ people. It is also a good time to analyze heterosexism and explore its causes and solutions.
While we do encourage everyone to dig into the resources below this month, “LGBTQ history is U.S. history and should be integrated into the curriculum throughout the school year.” ADL.org
